Dr. Burke is a recipient of the prestigious, "Order of the Long Leaf Pine." Bestowed by the Governor of North Carolina, this honor is awarded to persons for exemplary service to the State of North Carolina and communities that is above and beyond the call of duty, and has made a significant impact and strengthened North Carolina.
In 2011, Dr. Burke was granted an Honorary Lifetime Membership to the Association for Applied Sport Psychology for his work in helping to establish the Association.
Dr. Burke served as the Editor for the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics from 2007-2009.
Dr. Burke was selected to attend and completed the Tennessee Regents Academic Leadership Training Institute.
Dr. Burke served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology and is a past member of the Performance Enhancment/Intervention committee in Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
